The kids that got third place of the DARPA urban challenge 2007 formed a company called TORC Technology. It was announced they are producing IED- scouting humvee kits to the military and drive by wire platforms for the blinds. They are introducing a TORC kit called (GUSS), or Ground Unmanned Support Surrogate which navigate autonomously in off terrain environment. It can reach a max speed of 5MPH but carry up to 1800 pounds. The system can be used to follow troops automatically within a safe distance. It can be controlled manually for soldiers who like it old fashion. Video bonus inside!
